Friendly, Knowledgeable Service in the Goldstream Valley

September 2007 Newsletter, Volume 1

Welcome to the September issue of the Goldstream Sports Newsletter. We are well into Fall with the leaves changing, the temperature dropping at night and the aurora gracing our brilliant skies. On meeting visitors to Fairbanks, I am constantly surprised by their amazement that we really enjoy winter here. Warms hearts is what I tell them that makes it easy to get through winter. After meeting so many of our customers this summer, I am assured that this is the best part of Alaska to be in.

Our Saturday morning rides will continue until it snows, so come on down at 8am Saturdays and join in the fun rides. Good luck to everyone running in the Equinox. We will be cheering you on and feeling your pain as we sip lattes and eat donuts.

Back to school special

Start off the new school season on the right foot, uh wheel. All racks and bags 15% off. We have a great variety of racks to fit most bikes, and packs to fit the racks. Choose from seat packs, panniers, grocery packs and trunk packs. All of the packs remove quickly so you can take them with you! Also, be safe and lock your bike up with a quality bike lock. There has been a rash of bike thefts lately. Take 15% off all locks as well.

Go shirtless and help Goldstream Sports

Actually, we just need new rags. If you have any old t-shirts that are lying around, bring them and we will give them a loving new home.

Sale Item: Joggers 10% off

All of our remaining joggers have been reduced by 10%. We have 1 and 2-child joggers, and one even has the attachments to convert to a trailer! The joggers have hand and foot brakes, quick-release wheels, safety straps for the kids and good storage space for diapers and snacks.

Fairbanks Cycle Club Potluck

The fall potluck is September 9th (Sunday) from 3-6pm at the Ken Kunkel Community Center out in Goldstream Valley next to Ivory Jacks. For those that would like to do a ride, we will start at 1pm at the community center. At this potluck, there will be a brief, open meeting to elect new FCC officers. Bring your favorite dish!

Test ride the Goldstream Sports' Pump Track

The boys have been working overtime to get the Pump Track looking great. Come on in and challenge your balance, speed, and agility. When you have mastered that, come on in and challenge one of the staff! This is a seriously fun trail which allows you to be propelled through the course without pedaling. Bring your bike, or use one of ours.

A big thanks to Lorien and Adam

Lorien and Adam spent three nights with a few lucky cyclists in our first Park Tool School. We went through the entire bike with hands-on demonstrations. With our own bikes, we trued our wheels, adjusted the shifters, changed a tire, and much much more. I know I learned a great deal, and I am sure the other participants did as well. I know the next school will be equally well attended, so keep an eye out for our next clinic.
