Wow, Mother Nature knows how to taunt us doesn't she! All that rain, and now sunny as though nothing happened. I will take the sun, and a few more weeks of summer!

Tyson, Joel and myself (Amanda) just got back from Trek World - an extravaganza of all things Trek, Bontrager and Gary Fisher. We are super excited at the changes Trek has made in the line-up of their 2009 bikes. The geometry has changed a little on some bikes, the colors have changed enormously and the ride of the new carbon bikes is truly amazing! The new Shimano Dura Ace shifters are incredible as is the SRAM Red componentry... Now just which one to choose?

Those of you waiting to buy a new bike, you will be dazzled by the 2009 bikes, but don't miss out on some great deals on 2007 and 2008 bikes. Unfortunately the prices of bikes will be increasing next year due to the cost of production and shipping, but we are still going to keep our prices the same as all Trek stores nationwide. Feature Item - Trek MOD

The MOD is the new BMX. It is versatile, compact and most importantly - can be ridden inside and outside.

We at Goldstream Sports, take certain bikes out of inventory and test ride them until we feel we have pushed the bike to it's limit. This includes riding on the pump-track, down Ester Dome, and most recently jumping over the table top in front of the store.

Preparing for winter riding? Studded tires are key.

Goldstream Sports stocks Finnish made Nokian Winter Tires, including Hakkapeliita (240 studs), Freddie's (336 studs) and Extreme (294 studs). These high quality tires are fitted with carbide-tipped studs, high quality, non-toxic winter rubber, and a wire bead.

Nenana Century Ride - Fairbanks Cycle Club

Ever wanted to ride a century, but were too intimidated by competition? The Nenana Century ride on August 23rd is a great place to start - the ride is a non-competitive, supported ride with a food and drink stand half way to Nenana and a great way to meet great people and ride on a beautifully smooth highway. Meet at the Patty Center parking lot at 9am on Saturday and take money for snacks in Nenana. For more information on this ride call Steve Clautice at 479 5833.
