Goldstream Sports specializes in technical services like waxing. We use the latest tools like the Toko Thermo Bag to ensure maximum wax penetration. We test glide waxes using six pairs of skate and three pairs of classic skis that were matched at the factory to ensure accurate results. We have stone ground them with the same structure and prepped them the same way. We also use the same base coat under each wax we test. All variables must be removed to ensure an accurate test. Going by feel and glide also gives us results that are accurate. We take our testing seriously.
We recommend that new skis are soaked with a soft wax like Swix Base Prep, Swix CH 10 or Toko yellow. They should be scraped and brushed out and then hardened with a cold wax. Due to our weather conditions we use Swix CH 4 or Toko Blue for this purpose. Soaking should be done either in the Toko Thermo Bag or by going through six to ten heat cycles. Then at least three cycles of cold wax or another Toko Thermo Bag treatment with a cold wax. The Toko Thermo Bag is the most effective way to get the most wax into your ski.
